Posts that didn't go out
Find out why a post wasn't published from its status or the reason in its details, and what to do next.
Open the post in Post history at the bottom of the Posts page, or on the Calendar. Its status, and for a failed post the reason in its details, say what happened. Find them below, then follow the guide that explains more.
Start with the status
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Validated (test) | The workspace is in test mode: the post was only checked against the network's rules. | An owner or admin switches on Live publishing on the Posts page, then you create the post again. See Test mode and live mode. |
| Waiting for approval | It waits for an admin or the owner in the Approval queue. | Approve it there. If its time has passed, approving finds a new one. |
| Expired | An automation post was still waiting for approval two hours after its time. SemPost never publishes it late. | Approve automation posts before their time: see The approval queue. |
| Draft | Not planned: saved as a draft, taken off the plan, or held back by a safeguard. | Plan it or send it for approval. For a held post, see Fix a post a safeguard held. |
| Rejected | An approver turned it down. | Read the rejection note, fix the post and send it again. |
| Scheduled, after its time | Usually, the account has reached the network's posting limit for that hour or day. | Nothing: it goes out as soon as there's room. |
| Waiting for the network | SemPost's publishing service has a temporary problem. | Nothing: it goes out by itself once the service is back. |
| On its way | It was sent, and the network is still processing it. | Wait. A post that isn't live within a day fails. |
| Cancelled | An older post was stopped before it went out. | Create it again if you still want it. |
| Failed | It wasn't published. | Read the reason in its details: see the next table. |
Why a post failed
For most failed posts in live mode, the workspace's owners and admins also get an email.
| The details say | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The account needs to be reconnected. | The network's permission has ended. | Reconnect the account in Settings › Social accounts, then create the post again. |
| The account is no longer available. | The account was removed from SemPost or disconnected. | Connect it again, then create the post again. |
| A picture or video of the post was gone when it went out. Create the post again and add the media to it again. | One of the post's files was no longer there at its time. | A failed post can't be edited: create the post again with its media. |
| The same content went to this account in the last 24 hours. | The network doesn't take the same post twice in a day. | Change the text or the media, or wait a day. |
| The post does not meet the network's rules. / The network did not publish the post. / The publishing service did not accept the post. | The network or the publishing service refused it, for the reason after The network said:. | Fix what the reason names, then create the post again. |
| The publishing service did not answer after several tries. | SemPost tried several times and gave up. | Create the post again a little later. |
| The post did not go live within a day. / The connection to the publishing service broke before it answered, so the post may have gone out. … | The post may be on the network already. | Look at the account on the network first, and create the post again only if it isn't there. |
| Not sent: the workspace's plan is closed. | The plan was closed at the post's time. | The owner picks a plan in Settings › Billing: see When a payment fails. |
| Not sent: confirm in Settings › Social accounts that this YouTube channel does not publish content made for kids. | YouTube needs this confirmation for every upload. | An admin presses Confirm under the channel; then create the post again. |
| Not sent: the video's library music can no longer be used on this network. | The music in the video can't go to this network now. | Use a video without library music for this network. |
| Not sent because the workspace is suspended. / Posts cannot be published to this account. / The publishing service's account limit was reached. | Something only SemPost's team can fix. | Write to [email protected]. |
