How-to guide

Make a video in the Studio

Turn the tray's pictures into a free 9:16 slideshow for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, with a closing card, music, an AI motion clip or a voiceover if you like.

Make a video turns the Studio's pictures into a vertical video for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and video pins: each picture is shown whole, moving slowly, with soft cross-fades. The slideshow is free. You can end it on a closing card, put music from SemPost's library under it, open it with a 5-second AI motion clip, or have a voice read your text over it. When it's ready, the video joins the tray and goes to the accounts with a video type.

For a video you build shot by shot, with AI camera moves and scenes that come alive, use the Video Studio: see Make a product video in the Video Studio.

An example

Ece's tray holds three scenes of her new mug and two of her own photos. She presses Make a video: the five pictures will play in the tray's order. Under Length she picks 15 s. She switches on Closing card: its title, price and link come from Content, she taps Shop now under Call to action and switches on Show the address on the card. Under AI motion clip she picks Calm push-in, so the kitchen scene comes alive for five seconds at the start. She presses Make the video · … credits. A few minutes later the video is in the tray, and her Instagram account, set to Reel (video, 9:16), will post it.

Make the video

Put the pictures in order

The video takes the first six pictures of the tray, in the tray's order: the first one opens it. Change the order in the tray first.

Open Make a video

Under the tray, press Make a video. The window shows the pictures it will use.

Choose the length

Under Length, Auto keeps each picture about 2.5 seconds. 10 s, 15 s, 20 s or 30 s make the pictures stay longer or shorter to fill that time. Each picture stays between 1.5 and 8 seconds, so a few pictures can't make a long video: the line under the choices says how long yours will be.

Add a closing card, if you like

Switch on Closing card for the last 3 seconds: a Title, the Price with an Old price struck through and its Currency, a Discount code, a Call to action (type one or tap Shop now, Take a look, Order now, Link in bio or DM to order) and a Link. The fields start from Content, and the preview shows the card on the first picture.

No part of a video can be tapped, so Show the address on the card writes the link's address on it for viewers to read. The link itself becomes the link of the posts made from the video.

Open it with a motion clip, if you like

Under AI motion clip, keep None or pick a style, each with a short example and its price:

  • Calm push-in: the camera moves slowly toward the product.
  • Hero loop: the camera holds still while light and surroundings move; it ends on its first frame.
  • Two-angle move: the camera travels from the first picture to the second. It needs two pictures, ideally two angles in the same setting.

HD (1080p) makes a sharper clip for a few more credits, where the style offers it. The other pictures follow the clip.

Add music and a voiceover, if you like

  • Music appears when SemPost's music library is open to your workspace. Pick a track; the play button next to it lets you listen first. The track is cut to the video's length or looped, and fades out at the end. A video with library music can be shared only on the networks the library is open for. With no library music, the video has no music: pick Instagram's own music for a Reel in What will be sent, and TikTok's in the TikTok app.
  • Voiceover: write the Text to read, up to 600 characters (about 43 seconds of speech), and pick a Voice; the play button next to it plays a sample. The music steps down while the voice speaks, and the video lasts as long as the speech.

Make it

Give it a Video name if you like, then press Make the video, or Make the video · … credits with a motion clip or a voiceover.

While it's made

Under the tray, Videos lists the videos asked for: Waiting, Being made, Ready or Failed with the reason. A video takes a few minutes. When it's ready, it joins the tray if the tray has no video; otherwise press Replace the tray's video in the list (Add to the tray when the tray is empty). The play button plays it, and × puts it away: a waiting video is called off, a failed one leaves the list, a ready one stays in your library. A ready video stays in the list for an hour.

You can leave the Studio while a video is made: it's made anyway and lands in your library. To use it later, add it with Library.

Where the video goes

The video goes into your library, under the Studio source, and counts toward your storage. Your logo is on every frame when it's switched on in Settings › Brand at the time the video is made; switching it on later doesn't change the video. TikTok gets the video without the logo and the closing card. With a motion clip, a voiceover, an AI picture or an AI-made music track in it, the video is labelled with AI parts: see AI labels on your pictures and videos.

What it costs

The slideshow, the closing card and the music are free. The motion clip and the voiceover cost credits, shown on the Make the video button. They're taken only when those parts are made, and a part that can't be used isn't charged.
