How-to guide
Special day settings and the weekly email
Choose the countries and categories your workspace follows, hide the days you don't need, and get the coming special days by email every Monday.
Which special days you see depends on where your customers are and what you sell. A shop in Istanbul that also ships to Germany wants Germany's Mother's Day and Christmas next to Turkey's holidays; a skincare brand has nothing to say on World Book and Copyright Day. The Countries and categories card decides the list for the whole workspace, and each member can have the coming days sent to them by email every Monday.
What your workspace follows at first
Until an admin saves the card, your workspace follows its own country and the Worldwide days, in every category. Its own country is the Business country in Settings › Workspace, or the country of its time zone when that is empty. The card says which one, for example "Until the settings are saved, the workspace's own country is followed: Turkey." A few smaller awareness days, such as International Tea Day, start hidden.
The Countries list holds the countries SemPost has days for: today Turkey, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, every EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. A workspace whose country isn't on it sees the worldwide days until an admin picks countries.
Everyone in the workspace sees the same days: on the Special days page, on the calendar, on the dashboard and in the weekly email.
Choose the countries and categories
Admins Admin and the owner choose them for the whole workspace:
Open the card
Go to Content › Special days. The Countries and categories card is beside the list (under it on a phone). On the calendar, the Countries and categories link next to the Special days switch opens the same page.
Pick the countries
Press the Countries field, type in Search countries and tick each country you want. Untick one to drop it.
Keep or drop the worldwide days
Worldwide days are days marked in many countries, such as Valentine's Day, Black Friday or World Environment Day. Switch them off if you only want your countries' own days.
Tick the categories
Only the days of the ticked categories show:
| Category | For example |
|---|---|
| Public holiday | New Year's Day, Labour Day: shops, offices and deliveries may close |
| National day | Republic Day (Turkey), German Unity Day |
| Religious day | Eid al-Fitr, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday |
| Shopping day | Black Friday, Singles' Day (11.11), Cyber Monday |
| Gift day | Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Teachers' Day (Turkey) |
| Awareness day | International Women's Day, World Environment Day |
| Season | Back to school |
| Day of remembrance | Atatürk Memorial Day (10 November) |
Save
Press Save. "Special day settings saved" confirms it, and the list, the calendar, the dashboard and the next weekly email follow at once. The change is written to the Audit log.
Example: a cosmetics brand in Istanbul that also sells in Germany ticks Turkey and Germany and keeps the worldwide days. Turkey's Mother's Day and Germany's fall on the same Sunday in May, so it shows once, with both countries. On the calendar, each label now carries its country's code, such as TR or DE.
Members who aren't admins see the card greyed out, with the note "Only admins can change these settings."
Hide a day, or show it again
Hiding is for a single day that doesn't fit you, without dropping its whole category. A hidden day leaves the list, the calendar, the dashboard and the weekly email for everyone in the workspace.
- Hide it: open the day (Details on the list, or its label on the calendar) and press Hide this day. Admins see this button.
- Show it again: in the card, Hidden days lists the hidden ones. Press Show again next to the day, then Save. A tea shop does this for International Tea Day.
The weekly email
Every Monday from 09:00 in your workspace's time zone, the email "Special days in the next four weeks" lists up to eight coming days, and its Open special days button opens the whole list. Its subject names the first day, such as "Special days ahead for Lumora Home: Atatürk Memorial Day and 4 more". Days to prepare are under Coming up; days of remembrance come apart, under Days of remembrance: no sales posts. Each day has its date, how far it is and its countries, with a link:
- Prepare posts opens Generate with the day filled in;
- Write a message opens the AI writer for a greeting-only day;
- See it in SemPost opens the list, for viewers, who don't prepare posts.
It comes in your own language and only lists the days your workspace follows. A week with nothing in the next four weeks sends no email.
Switch it on
Go to Settings › Profile. In the Emails card, switch on Weekly special days email; "Weekly email switched on" confirms it. The same card is beside the Special days list.
Check your email address
The email goes only to a verified address. Settings › Profile shows Verified next to your email; if it says Not verified, verify it first.
Each member decides for themselves, and the email is off until you switch it on. It is per workspace: if you belong to two workspaces, switch it on in each one you want.
To stop it, switch it off in the same card, or press Unsubscribe with one click at the foot of any of these emails. The page that opens asks once: press Unsubscribe, no sign-in needed, and it says "You are unsubscribed". Many mail programs show their own unsubscribe button for this email; it does the same. Other emails, such as security notices, keep coming. Changed your mind? Switch it on again in Settings › Profile.
If something goes wrong
- "Only the worldwide days show: your workspace has no country yet." Set the Business country in Settings › Workspace, or pick countries in the card.
- "No special days in this range" Choose a longer range under Show, clear the filters, or follow more countries and categories.
- No weekly email. Check that the switch is on in this workspace and that your email shows Verified. The email leaves on Monday from 09:00 in the workspace's time zone, and skips a week with no coming days. If the card says "Special days are not open for this workspace yet.", the email can't be switched on.
- "This link did not work" on the unsubscribe page. Switch the email off in Settings › Profile instead: press Open email settings.
